Eddie Teddie is Keeping Fit

Hello Friends,

This is my first blog of 2020, happy New Year! I hope you all had a really fun Christmas spending time with friends and family, I certainly did.

Do you remember that last year I wrote a blog post about my New Year’s resolution? Well I managed to save more money than I did in 2018! I’m really pleased that I was able to reach my goal and enjoyed the challenge of sticking to my resolution. So, I thought I would set myself another resolution for 2020. The problem was, I was having trouble thinking of a good one. 

I asked Mum if she had a New Year’s resolution for 2020. She told me she wanted to improve her fitness this year and I thought that sounded like a lot of fun! Mum said I am too young to become a member at the gym, but I could go along to her personal training session with her. This is where a trainer at the gym guides you through some exercises and makes sure you stay on track with your fitness goal. 

Fun at the gym

The gym that Mum goes to is called Fitness Space. It’s right next to where she works so it’s very easy to fit it some exercise. Mum can pop in before work or during her lunch break.

I was a little bit nervous to begin with because I haven’t been to a gym before. I didn’t know if I would be any good. Luckily the trainers at the gym are really nice and encouraging. Mum’s trainer got out a skipping rope that I could play with and put out some cones for me to run between. 

I really enjoyed running and jumping around because I had spent a lot of time inside over Christmas, playing with my toys and eating lots of chocolate! I think my favourite bit about going to the gym, though, was that they had printed me my very own t-shirt! Maybe I can be a coach at Fitness Space when I grow up? 

It’s very important to stay active

Being active throughout the whole year ensures you stay nice and healthy. Being healthy means that you feel stronger and have more energy, it helps you sleep better and can even help prevent you from getting poorly.

Did you know that children (and little bears!) should be active for 60 minutes a day to stay fit and healthy? My Mum’s trainer told me that! It doesn’t have to all be in one go and it doesn’t all have to be running around. There are loads of different activities you can try!
